...but only in Queensland! In the rest of the world it's still the SX4! Bizarre!

A very smart move! Suzuki released the SX4 as a Sports Xover (Crossover) 4WD. Then they brought out FWD hatch and sedan versions and still called them the same thing, even though they were no longer a 4WD. *Slow clap for Suzuki*

I think distinguishing between the 4WD and 2WD models is a great idea, but I probably would have just called the FWD models SX2 to make it less confusing - or called the whole range Liana but Liana SX4 for the 4WD model.

Its like when they switched from the Sierra to Jimny models. I know that they needed to distinguish an all-new model, but the Sierra had such a dedicated following that it was idiocy to change the name. So now they call it a Jimny Sierra.

Oh Suzuki, when will you learn?

Could be worse....Nissan in it's infinite wisdom dropped the Pulsar name and ran with shitbox..err, Tiida, despite the Pulsar name having a loyal following in Australia. Apparently Australian management was against the change, but had to follow decisions made overseas. Tiida was a sales disaster. Guess what the new model is going to be called? Starts with P....

Moral of the story...market research isn't all it's cracked up to be. There are many examples of companies ignoring the opinion of their customer base to their own detriment. Can anyone say iSnack 2.0?

Ha! I commented to a mate when the Tiida was launched about how it was a catastrophic mistake for Nissan to take the second best selling small car and dump it in favour of a car that looked uglier than its name.

acctually,

SX4 means Sports Xover 4 Seasons...

so its still accurate on All models... just people assume what you did and get confused easily when they dont know what it means

According to the President and CEO of Suzuki:

Quote:
Whether driving over mountain paths, seaside boulevards or urban streets, the SX4 feels right at home. Its “S” stands for “sports,” “X” for “X-over (crossover)” and “4” for ”4-wheel drive" and the “four seasons.”

Pretty clearly an SX4 without 4 wheel drive isn't living up to the meaning of the badge.

just read that full interview... ive never heard the 4 to stand for 4wd ever. oh well

what an idiot the prez is

the sx4 badge makes perfect sense to me

even in india, they dont have the hatch or 4wd versions so the sx4 stands for Sport relaX 4 Seasons

THe SX4 badge (and the car itself) could only make sense to someone who bought one.

I definitely don't understand the 2WD hatch.. seems they are trying to cut into their own Swift sales.

I think the sedan and AWD fit into the line up OK.

Looking at the Qld suzuki website, they have the sx4 2wd sedana and hatch, and the sx4 liana sedan and hatch, from what I've read on there it just seems to be a trim level desgination, rather than renamin the whole model range.

That article must be specifically referring to Australian delivered models, it states this is the first time suzuki has offered a CVT gearbox, yet the cultus convertibles of the mid 90s had CVT...
But of course the only ones of those that landed here were grey imports

Brayden clearly does not care for SX4's.
What can one say about a guy who owned a Mighty Boy since forever.
The type of car tells you a lot about the person who owns the car.

So us SX4ers are Mums taxi owners.

Mighty Boy owners are ????

From Wiki...

You can probably guess which guy drove a Ferrari and which guy drove a Mini. ...... The flashiness of a car is inversely proportional to the size of the owners penis.

Well like Gadaffi and Idi Amin and the dick in Egypt prezzies get the chop eventually..

Hey if you think an SX4 is bad try owning an Toyota RAv4 I had two and both suffered terminal fifth gear failure at 200,000 KM.
Toyota issued a service bulletin on a need to now basis, so if you didnt know what the gear lever slop meant, you never got the box checked out and the free warranty repairs, so now there is an epidemic of RAV4's gearbox failures above 200,000KM and they are all becoming 4 speeders...cos it costs $850 for the parts and about $1000 to fit them..

I agree here on all counts, build a reputation the confuse your customers and ignore them.
Meanwhile Maruti Suzuki gets liquid injected LPG and LNG for no extra cost and a greater
range of options for their local content. Albeit 50 times larger population
I and many have been waiting for the Carry to make a comeback with twin sliding doors
and small nimble body with high roof this time for taller passengers but we get the APV
and Indonesian wide body with no practicality and leaf springs.

The SX4/liana need a new designer for finish much like Hyundai has done.

i have alot of respect for brayden's mighty boy. at least he had the brass ones to go out on a limb and do something completely different to the rest of the world. i bet he gets sh*t from everyone about driving a mighty boy, but the truth is that it's his car and it's an extension of his personality. just like the rest of us. so don't make a fool out of yourself by trying to give us all a hard time, if we really wanted to we could probably pick on you for buying an SX4. but that's not what redline is about, so either join us or leave.

Braydens MB is a fine example of "built no bought" so all you
are doing is to spoil the reputation of other fine SX4 owners
and complete disrespect to people who make this forum work
and a positive community.
