Not sure if it's new, but any colour other than White Pearl attracts a metallic paint charge (scam!)

Suzuki have done that from the beginning of the New Swift range. Thing that I don't understand (and I could be wrong) is that it would take the same effort to paint the pearl white as any of the other colours?

I know in some countrys there is an option for a matt white as well as pearl white.

In Australia they only brought in the pearl white in. And according to Australian law, they have to offer at least on model that doesn't have an extra charge on it. So they chose white.

Just remembered another thing that has changed, but can't remember where in the evolution ladder it falls. The rear seat folding mechanism and boot floor has changed from the original design. It no longer folds into a flat floor I believe?

I have a series 1, my neighbour has a series 2, and an ex workmate has a series 3 (but I'm no longer in contact). Anyhoo, the series 1 and 2 have the double fold rear seat, the series 3 has the single fold with the shelf. Note that series 1 has a very stiff square button to release the rear seat fold lock, whereas the series 2 has a different, much easier to press release button.

As an aside, are the earlier double fold/tumbling seats removable entirely?

If you have a ring spanner, yes, and it's fairly simple, although the plastic trims over the bolts are very easy to damage.
