Hey guys, been thinking of something crazy, has anyone ever attempted/completed putting a 4g63t evo1-3 motor & gearbox in a mk3 gti?

If so is there a mounting kit premade?
Issues that had been ran into?

If someone has already got a build thread of the conversion could someone point me in the direction of said thread.

Cheers,

DMW had a SWEVO (Evo6 in a late model). I doubt there is any kit available.

Not the best choice of engine /box to fit but it can be done.
Before I fitted the evo6 running gear in my late model swift I fitted a evo3 motor and box to it,but the drive to the rear was a fail as it hit the electric steer rack,so it came out and the 6 running gear went in.
The chassis rails on new and old swift are VERY close to being same width apart so it could be done.
But why would you put such a heavy, old engine in?,much better choice would be a modern engine such as the ST Ford fiesta ecoboost 1.6, very compact and lightweight engine ,very strong gearbox and readily available spare parts.
Other very good option is a Honda K20 or 24, fits ,has been done before , very cheap to buy if you buy a CRV k24

Would a b18 or possibly a k20 be An easier swap? I was only looking at going with the 4g63 motor & box as I've got it sitting in my shed

The 4g63 and the sr20 would be the two motors that you could make very easy power on a stock unopened motor
They can handle 300kw without touching internals

That's another reason as to why I was leaning towards the 4g63, though a b18 or a k series motor with a turbo slapped on it are downright crazy, plus a crazy high limiter & a lot lighter than a 4g63

I have been looking at doing the B18 for years.

Strong engine big power on mild boost for a stock engine. (400hp at the wheels with just upgrading pistons)
In Australia the gear box is on the drivers side offsetting the weight.
One of the lightest Honda engines made.
They are cheap as well as the gearboxes.
Able to handle big power with limited mods.
Gearbox can do 10sec passes with no mods.
Only down side is the drive shafts break easy but for the conversion they would be replaced.
Another down side is no one has done it so a lot of unknowns.

I'm leaning towards the b18 or possibly a k24 a lot more, just need to find people that have a done a Honda motor transplant before so I can get a rough idea

I did the fabrication /engine install on Bens mk1 gti with a Honda K20 and later did the k20 conversion on Harrys gt starlet, both were straight forward with minimal chassis rail mods, even though the k20 is quite a tall engine both were done with no bonnet cutting .If you search k20 conversion I am sure they both posted pics on here.
