Interesting. Seems its more of an evolution of the current body shape.

It'd be interesting to see if they keep the same engine and/or what modifications they do to it.

I sincerely hope they are 'crystal' style lights on the rear. I thought they would have learnt from Subaru's mistake on the WRX.

Hm, looks kinda cool - but I'm not sure.

This article reckons looking like a Renault Megane wouldn't be a bad thing? When I first saw the Renault Megane I thought it had been in an accident. Then I realised it was MEANT to be shaped like that and I almost vomited - then I laughed.
Renault Megane: Ugliness in a metal package.

There's speculation on the web, that the car under test may in fact be a mule that uses the current car's body over new mechanicals.

Nah I haven't but yeah I wasn't commenting on its performance. I kind of have a thing against them because (you guys may well have seen this) the Top Gear presenters were given 15000 pounds to make a car as fast as an Evo, which is twice the price. But then the stupid producers bought them a Renault Megane for the base, which blew 10k of their money and surprise surprise, they weren't able to make it even close to the Evo.
So I'm sort of bias, cos I'm thinking "If you hadn't blown all their money on an overpriced French 'safe' car, then it would have been different..."
Think of what you could do to a Swift if you bought a 2 year old one for $11,500 which would leave you with $24,000 change on their budget (when you convert it to AU.)

It wasn't a Megane, it was a Renault Avantime. Similar rear end. That's about it though

Because if Suzuki are developing a new Swift chassis (as has been suggested) then using a current model as a "mule" body makes zero sense. Retrofitting all of the new mechanical components would be counter-productive, costly, time consuming, and pointless.

And its Suzuki, not some top secret Ferrari or Merc.

Cruising the web, as you do. Stumbled upon this.
I assume thats the Suzuki distributer in Singapore. Not sure if its a special edition or facelift.

Looks too much like the sport, so its probably a special edition. sure beats our RE's

An interesting find, and they're currently doing a free upgrade over there. They value the "2009 edition" as having $1,500 more equipment than the standard Swift and they're throwing in leather seats and window tint as well!

Rear spoiler look standard Suzuki, but I wonder where they got there bumpers from? The front is interesting, seems to have LED driving lights running horixsontally beside the round driving lights.

I remember reading a suzuki ad on the flight to singapore, a manual swift cost about Aud $38,000 - $40,000, i am sure free upgrades are most definately warranted    , and as a side note, I also saw an import 1.5 swift for sale at $1,500,000 bath in Thailand (Aud $44,000), Crazy eh?

Just checking the current advertised price of a Swift 1.5 from Champion Motors is $53900SGD which converts over to $46610 AU  (currently AU$1 = SG$1.156)
Better off buying a Sport which will only set you back AU$51836

The article says "all-new Swift" - not that the musings of a web journo are the basis of credible fact, but the images to me suggest that it is a new chassis, and slightly larger than the current model.

Other murmurs I have read claim the 2010 model is "next generation", and after 6 years in the market it makes sense that Suzuki would release a completely new model. They obviously realise that in the current small car market they can't afford to flog a dead horse for over a decade like they did with the SF series!

Aside from that, the car shown under wraps still appears to have drum brakes at the rear...
