Just for other's reference my problem was ignition coil and lead related. Had all the coils and leads replaced with aftermarket ones and noticed a nice boost in performance. Engine is smoother than it has ever been, so I suspect the coils had been misfiring for awhile.
We have a 2008 Swift 1.5 litre. Recently it started hesitating when accelerating in low gears (2nd & 3rd) under 2000 rpm. Thought it may have been injector related so put 50 mls of injector cleaner in a fresh tank of 91. No change after half a tank used.
Took it to a garage/service centre (all brands). They suggested coils, but then said "let's try new spark plugs." That got rid of the mis-fire and the car pulled better at low rpm than it had in ages.
Now the mis-fire is back.
From comments on here, it seems that the coils may be the problem. I understand there are two of them. How do we work out which is the bad coil?
Our car has 114,000 km on the odo and we have had it since new.

I have a 2008 Swift .. EL.. Done 145,000.
It has been idling rough for months, had the spark plugs changed and issue went away for a while. (When starting it shakes like an earth quake and sounds like it is going to stall .. this is an Automatic)
Last night it completely kicked the bucket.. could not accelerate over 40kms
It is throwing back the error code: misfire in cyl 1, 2, 3.
Mechanic is suggesting changing: Coil Pack Spark Plug/ leads Total $638....
Can anyone advise what did fix your issues as I am seeing all over forums across the world that rough idle and misfire is an overly common thing with Swifts.

Hello from Argentina in my car (suzuki swift 2007 1.5 VVT) definitely the problem were the coils, I change them and at 3000 km, it is happening again, can anyone know what is causing the coil to fail? Clean the oxygen sensors of the intake filter, check the spark plug wire ... they told me that it may be a problem with the throttle ... I do not know what to think !! please I need help!!
